This years Lakeland League will be even bigger and better than last year with an amazing £5k in cash and prizes to be won!

Introducing the LAKELAND LEAGUE 2023!! 

This year’s Lakeland League will be even bigger and better than last year with an amazing £5k worth of prizes to be won! 

Each of our 3 centres will hold their very own qualifying round and the whole thing is set to culminate in a jam-packed Fun Comp & Grand Final Day at LancasterWall! All the rounds overlap so even if you’re a little late to the party, you can still enter the whole comp!

Open to absolutely everyone, each round will feature a range of super exciting climbs with grades from V0 all the way up to V10! 

With each scorecard automatically entering into a raffle for a huge selection of prizes, there’s no excuse not to get involved!

  • Junior: Born 2006-2011
  • Senior: Born 1976-2005
  • Vet: Born 1975 or earlier

Those in the Junior or Vet categories can choose if they wish to compete in the Senior category but this must be decided before the start of the first round, you will not be able to switch categories half way through the qualifying rounds.

Entry and scoring:

  • The Scoring system is the same as the Winter bouldering league and Marmot Masters i.e. 10 pts for a flash, 7pts for 2nd attempt, 4pts for 3rd attempt and 1pt for 4+ attempts.
  • Scoring will be done using the Griptonite app or paper score card. Entries cost £1 on Griptonite or £3 for a paper score card.
  • The cost of entry to each round is the value of the score card plus your normal entry fee.
  • Scoring must be completed by 6pm on the last day of each round.

There is a period of time where all three qualifying rounds will running concurrently (one at each Centre). this means that you can entre the Lakeland League at any time before the end of the qualification rounds.


Qualifying Rounds

  • Everyone will compete on the same 25 problems during each qualifying round.
  • There is no isolation for these rounds, competitors will be able to watch other climbers and communicate regarding beta.
  • Competitors have unlimited attempts at each problem, scoring is as described above
  • After the three qualifying rounds competitors scores will be added together to give a final total.

Final Round

  • To gain a place in the final competitors must have taken part in all three qualifying rounds.
  • The Senior final will follow the same format as an IFSC semi final
  • The Junior and Vet final will be scramble format with the same rules as the qualifying rounds
