Hello Balance!

This month is all about counterbalance, helping you move up the wall with stability, control, and confidence.

Monday 3rd

Join me in THE DEN at 7:30pm for a 30-minute warm-up and guided session on how to find the balance point with off the wall exercises that help with useful techniques like flagging.

At 8:00pm the session splits:

  • Rope Skills Drop-In (£2.00 booking fee): Join Mel for a one-hour session covering tying-in and belaying skills. Ideal if you’re learning or want to brush up on some skills that might have got a little rusty.
  • Bouldering Option: Not up for ropes? Head to the bouldering rooms to put your new strength skills into practice.

Don’t wave the white flag-learn to flag.

Flagging is a key technique for staying balanced and in control on the wall. Learn how a we placed leg can improve stability, create reach, and help you move more efficiently throu sequences.

Monday 17th

Inside and Back Flag

The lesser-known cousins of the classic flag, inside and back flags are well worth learning, they’ll keep you stable, steady, and moving smoothly on the wall.

This month, we’re dissecting sequences to find our way on the wall. Learn how to spot the right moves for your hands and feet, plan your path, and climb smarter from start to finish.

Monday 7th

Stop guessing, start sending! Join Mel for a fun, hands-on Route Reading Workshop. We’ll uncover the beta, spot tricky holds, and help you plan your moves so you can climb smarter and crush your routes.

Ready, Set, Flow

This week, we’re mastering the art of resting and pacing. By learning when to pause and how to control your speed, you’ll be better prepared for tough moves and stay in control while tackling any route.

Monday 28th

Clockwork

Sometimes the moves look wrong… but feel right! Master this hand movement technique to set yourself up for smooth, efficient climbing.

Outdoor Workshops

Trad Gear

– Would you like to trust your gear more?
– What does a good gear placement look like (and a bad one!)?
– How do you work out where to place the gear, and what should you place?

If you’ve ever wondered about any of these questions, this workshop is for you!

Route Reading on Rock

– How do you spot the best holds when climbing real rock?
– Where does the route go if there aren’t a line of bolts (or bright blue holds!) to follow?
– What is a chimney/groove/rib/corner/ layback/offwidth/jamming crack… and how am I supposed to get up it?!

This workshop is for anyone keen to improve their climbing skills on rock.

Headgame

– Would you like to feel calmer climbing above your gear? Are you worried about falling?
– Want to know some tactical tips that will make your next climb feel less intimidating?
– Are your arms stronger than your mind?!

We’ll be looking at a host of tips and tricks for hitting that sweet spot of having a challenging, but enjoyable, climbing experience.
