LCC is Matching All Donations to the Cumbria Bolt Fund This November! 💥
We’re proud to announce that throughout November, Lakeland Climbing Centres will be matching all donations to the Cumbria Bolt Fund — up to a total of £1500.
That means every pound you give this month will go twice as far in helping to keep climbing in Cumbria safe, sustainable, and accessible for everyone.
What is the Cumbria Bolt Fund?
If you’ve ever clipped a bolt or lowered off a sport route in Cumbria, chances are you’ve benefitted from the hard work of the Cumbria Bolt Fund.
They’re a volunteer-run, donation-funded group dedicated to maintaining and improving fixed protection on the county’s crags. Their work includes:
- Replacing worn or corroded bolts and lower-offs
- Equipping new routes with safe, reliable hardware
- Supporting the responsible development of new climbing areas
- Encouraging best practice and education around bolting and maintenance
- Responding to reports from climbers about routes or equipment that need attention
All of this helps ensure that Cumbria’s outdoor climbing remains both safe and sustainable — whether you’re projecting a sport climb, trying a new line, or enjoying a day out on classic routes.

The Cumbria Bolt Fund relies entirely on donations and the time of dedicated volunteers. Your contribution goes directly towards the materials and tools they need — stainless steel bolts, glue, lower-offs, and other specialist equipment that make safe climbing possible.
